Two of our recent manuscripts on Bi-doped glasses have been shortlisted among the most cited papers in Optics Express (Ref. 1; no. 10 out of > 3100 published in 2012) and in the Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids (Ref. 2; no. 3 of all articles published since 2009). In the papers, we discuss the nature of ultrabroad near-infrared photoluminescence from Bi-doped glasses and crystals, a topic which is presently of sigificant interest due to the potential of such materials as broadband optical amplifiers or fiber laser sources. In addition, our paper “Europium partitioning, luminescence re-absorption and quantum efficiency in (Sr,Ca) akermanite-feldspar bi-phasic glass ceramics”  has been selected as a “2013 Hot Paper” by the Journal of Materials Chemicstry C (Ref. 3).
